It’s like going to work for the first time all over again. I remember quite well how skimpy my outfit was, I had a short white skirt with a tight little shirt and that’s how the office gossip started; did you see the new girl in the finance department? The skinny little girl with the short skirt? I soon learned that in the corporate industry how you look, how you carry yourself, how eloquently you address your pears says a lot about you. Let alone your credentials, social influence, and how hard working you are also counts in your abilities to climb the corporate ladder, your character affects how far your career will grow.
My first qualification was in finance but I was eagerly enticed by the creative industry, I hated everything about finance so I’ll slightly brush on this but my point was about the fact that I always wanted the freedom to dress how I felt regardless of how my schedule for the day was. It’s easy to do this when you’re surrounded by open minded creatives but it becomes a bit difficult when your bosses boss doesn’t have a social link application on their phone. Understandably so, the economy is run by different industries and after all we are where we are because most of us dreamt of office spaces with wooden furniture before we were exposed to the pleasures of turning your lounge into your office space with no restrictions.
In a nutshell, dress your way to success. Yes it does matter how you carry yourself and I also know that some people have made it regardless of how they looked but it has always been a small percentage of that lucky bunch.
This outfit just brought back memories of how I had to learn when i was already in the office my overall mattered the most and how you feel, most definitely shines on your face.
See you in a bit……
